About This Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Fellow to lead the design, planning, and execution of clinical and cohort trials for children with cerebral palsy or related conditions. This role requires expert paediatric knowledge and clinical expertise, particularly in assessment methods for children at risk of cerebral palsy.

The successful candidate will work independently and take on a leadership role, liaising with both internal and external health services and stakeholders. Key responsibilities include establishing referral pathways, delivering feedback on assessment results, and providing formal and informal education on research findings.

Key responsibilities will include: 

  • Research: Produce quality research outputs, publish in high-quality outlets, and contribute to the development of joint research projects. Engage in applications for competitive funding and work towards the translation and commercialization of UQ intellectual property.

  • Leadership and Collaboration: Lead and develop supervisee performance, foster collaboration within the unit, and contribute to external relationships with industry, government, and professional bodies.

  • Research Program Development: Develop a coherent research program, build an emerging research profile, and utilize best practice research methodologies to advance knowledge in paediatric physiotherapy for cerebral palsy.

This is a part-time (60%), fixed-term position for up to 7 months at Academic level A.

About You

  • Completion of a PhD in the area of Cerebral Palsy physiotherapy in children.

  • Advanced training in early Infant assessments (GMA, MOS-R, HINE, ASQ, ASQ-TRAC, BSID)

  • An emerging profile in research in the area of early detection and intervention for babies with Cerebral Palsy.

  • Experience with working with First Nation cohorts in regional-remote-rural environment.

  • Evidence of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences.

  • Evidence of contributions towards successfully obtaining external research funding.

  • Some experience in meaningful internal service roles and contributions towards external activities

The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, criminal check, education check and mandatory immunisations.
